Encounter 18

The day after our first gray whale predation.

The CA51s, CA51As, and CA140Bs were feeding on this carcass throughout the day. The CA51As left mid-day, but the other two groups actually spent 4 days in total with the same carcass - a new record for our research! It is very hard watching a gray whale predation, but knowing this was such a vital food source for these orcas for so many days helps to put it in perspective.
