Cristal Cardenas

Cristal has been fascinated with Orcas and the Ocean for as long as she can remember. Since the first time she watched Disney's The Little Mermaid, she fell in love with the majestic world below the waves. She attended CSU Monterey Bay and graduated in 2018 with a degree in Biology - Concentration: Ecology, Evolution, & Organismal. Cristal heard about an internship being offered by Monterey Bay Whale Watch back in January 2020. She was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to help collect valuable data during whale watching trips. Collection of data includes; filling out data sheets, taking photos to later ID cetaceans, and inputting data into the computer.

When asked to help create and tend to the new CKWP website, she was overjoyed and honored to play a part in this wonderful nonprofit organization. She saw her first Orca pod (CA51's and CA50B) on April 28th! It was the best whale watching experience ever.
